Oil & Gas giant MODEC keep coming back for more

10 Feb 2023

Two budding engineers from Ghana have just landed in Teesside for an intense 8-week training plan, to receive world-class training by industry experts in the heart of the region at TTE.

Betty Annang and Simons Acquah have joined TTE on a bespoke graduate training programme. With a primary focus on instrumentation, this programme aims to provide the pair with specialised skills and knowledge required by their employer, MODEC, based in Ghana.

Founded over 50 years ago, MODEC specialise in providing clients with economical floating production solutions using the latest technologies, as well as designing and operating such systems, in the offshore oil and gas industry. MODEC uphold a high reputation within the industry and require an extremely high level of skill and expertise from their staff to achieve this.

Cleopas Djisam, recruitment and selection specialist at MODEC, accompanied the students to TTE to ensure their arrival ran smoothly.

Cleopas told us: “MODEC have worked with TTE for many years and have always received the best training experience possible. The oil & gas industry in Ghana is still only young, so it is extremely important for us to use specialist providers, such as TTE, to enhance the skills of our new employees.

“We are trying our hardest to supply local Ghanian people with the skills they need to excel in a career at MODEC, that’s why training programmes like these are so important to our company.”

Neither of the learners have visited the UK before, so TTE strive to make the experience as special as possible. Upon arrival a welcome meal was arranged with Operations Manager of TTE, John Cooke, to ensure the learners felt comfortable with their contacts and got to know their future tutors.

Cleopas continues: “The training at TTE has provided our employees with the fundamentals required to thrive in the oil & gas industry. The first group of learners at TTE have now gone on to be supervisors and managers which is exactly what we hope for Betty and Simons in the future.

“We are really looking forward to TTE’s relocation to the Middlesbrough College campus, we feel this will open even more doors for MODEC when looking to re-train and up-skill current employees.

“TTE have been a brilliant provider for us, we look forward to collaborating again in the future as the standard of learning is so high.”

TTE have a specialist international development team, who work with organisations to create bespoke training packages specially designed for individual business needs.
