What is the Welding Academy?

Covering nearly 10,000 square feet our Welding Academy houses a wide range of fabrication equipment which is available for production and training purposes and is also equipped with state of the art equipment.

The Welding Academy delivers training and qualifications in MIG, TIG, MMA as well as hand burning and CNC plasma cutting.

We also offer destructive and non-destructive weld testing techniques including:

  • Dye penetrant
  • Magnetic particle
  • Macro etching / Macroscope measurement
  • Nick break
  • Bend test


Who is the Academy for?

 Our Academy is open to all organisations and schools looking to gain training and qualifications in Fabrication and Welding.


What programmes are offered?

Programmes are designed to meet your needs and can cover:

  • Practical welding techniques in MIG, MMA and TIG to BSEN 287 standards
  • Welding Health & Safety
  • Welding defects
  • Welding theories
  • Welding TPM
  • General sheet metalwork fabrication

Also includes destructive and non-destructive weld testing techniques including:

  • Dye penetrant
  • Magnetic particle
  • Macro etching / Macroscope measurement
  • Nick break
  • Bend test


Qualifications offered include:

  • Level 1 and 2 Awards in Welding
  • Level 2 and 3 NVQ’s in Fabrication and Welding
  • Level 2 and 3 VRQ’s (Technical Certificate) in Fabrication and Welding

These courses are designed for those who have an interest in learning welding skills or are already employed in the industry as a welder/fabricator.


Mandatory

There are no formal entry requirements for the Introductory Level. For Levels 2 and 3 prior levels must have been completed.
