Nine join the work place following training success

Nine Mechanical and Electrical Apprentices are now putting their skills and knowledge to use at Northumbrian Water Group, having completed the first two years of intense technical training at TTE’s training centre in Middlesbrough.

Eight of the group hail from across the North East, from the Tees Valley to Northumberland, and will work across the region, while the ninth has returned to work in Essex with Essex & Suffolk Water, part of the Northumbrian Water Group.

Mechanical Engineers Jack Adams and Adam McCabe, and Electrical Engineer Carl Eddon, will work in the Tees area.

Electrical Engineer Luke Barras and Mechanical Engineer Kieron Marr will operate in the central area of the region.

Two further Mechanical Engineers, Kristofer Brown and Jordan Cuthbertson, will work in their native Northumberland, alongside Electrical Engineer Dylan Lowes.

Lewis McArthur, a Mechanical Engineer, will work in Essex.

Electrical Apprentice Carl Eddon, from Darlington, is now working from Northumbrian Water’s Broken Scar Water Treatment Works. He said: “For some time now, we’ve all been itching to get out and put our learning into practice in the real world. It’s great to finally be working in the business, because it really adds to what you have learned when you see how your role relates to the rest of the business and makes a difference for other people.”

Northumbrian Water Group’s Training Contracts Manager, Tracey Greener said: “The first two years have flown for the apprentices and they have really worked hard to complete their Level 3 studies to a high standard. They are all ready to move into the role they were recruited to and start working alongside other mechanical and electrical colleagues.

“This is what Apprenticeships are all about, preparing people to be valuable, full-time members of the team and putting their skills into practice. We’re very proud of this group and are excited to see them continue to develop in their roles.

“Apprenticeships are just one part of our work to develop young people to be a part of the future workforce. Along with supported placements, these young people gain valuable work experience and develop their skills as they complete an apprenticeship with one of our partner training agencies.

“Earlier this year, Northumbrian Water helped to launch the Energy & Utilities Skills Strategy, with the aim of filling 221,000 roles that have been estimated will be needed within the sector by 2027. Young people like these nine are very important for the continued success of Northumbrian Water Group and the wider industry.”

The nine apprentices have been excellent learners and another great example of the quality of young people that Northumbrian Water selects to be trained at TTE.”
