FREE Bus and Train travel on selected routes

TTE has a fantastic travel package for all new full time students.

Travelling to and from TTE shouldn’t be an issue, which is why we‘ve teamed up with the area’s biggest bus and train operators to offer students FREE* bus travel 7 days a week and REIMBURSED weekday train travel to and from TTE.

Whether students live 15 or 50 minutes away, there are a number of bus and train routes available to make the journey that bit easier.

FREE* train travel 16 – 17 Saver Card

Students may find that rail is the perfect way of getting to TTE in Southbank each day.

In order to take advantage of free train travel from September 2020 you will be expected to purchase a 16-17 Saver Card which currently costs just £30 per year and will save you 50% off your train fare.  TTE will then reimburse the remaining 50% of your train fare when travelling from ALL stations in the region – irrespective of your home postcode.

With the 16-17 Saver Card you will be able to travel across the National Rail network, except on ScotRail and the Caledonian Sleeper, so you will be able to use it on weekends and TTE holidays to go on shopping trips or days out. Visit to apply for your Saver Card today.

If you are 18+, then please bring your normal fare ticket to Student Welfare at TTE for this to be reimbursed.  There will also be a £5 administration fee if you are 18 and travel by train for your travel sticker and this is payable each term.

For further information on eligibility and the process of refunds, contact Nicola Jones at TTE who will be happy to help.

This pass will last until November. Following this, students will be required to obtain a sticker to apply to the card for ‘term 1’. In January the following year, learners will also be required to obtain a further ‘term 2’ sticker. In April, learners will require the final ‘term 3’ sticker.

*Please note, there is a £5 administration fee if you travel by bus for your travel sticker and this is payable each term.

Other Information

Losing your Middlesbrough College ID/Travel Pass:
It’s important for students to have their ID on them at all times, however, should learners misplace the card, we offer a replacement service. We ask our students to act sensibly on their travels. Anyone involved in causing disruption or concern on the above transport routes may have their card confiscated.  Card replacement costs: 1st card free, 2nd card £1, 3rd card £2, 4th card £5.

By Bike or Car

If you want to travel and get fit, TTE provides secure cycle parking facilities. If you want to travel by car or motor-cycle, you can park in the TTE car park.
