Electrical courses

The UK has a long and proud tradition of electrical engineering and this offers an exciting opportunity for people joining the industry. As a trainee electrical engineer, you will be taught the practical and theoretical skills associated with electrical maintenance and construction. You will learn about many subjects including electrical safety, basic hand tools, testing and inspection, cable size and types, relays and contactors, PLCs, AC and DC and electrical drawings.

To complement your practical skills you will complete a recognised academic qualification, which will include maths, health & safety, electrical theory and electronics/principles. When assessed to be competent you will actually wire and fault-find on equipment and circuits, such as lighting, power and motor control circuits. These are technical qualifications that meet the required standard to become a technician in the electrical engineering industry.
